Cops Chase Motorcyclist Through Claremont, Pomona

A high-speed motorcycle chase that began in Rancho Cucamonga Wednesday passed through Claremont and Pomona before ending with the arrest of the rider.

The chase began about 3:30 p.m., when California Highway Patrol officers tried to stop the rider, officials said.

The rider headed west from San Bernardino into Los Angeles, as cops chased him and helicopter crews monitored his progress, officials said.
The pursuit was televised.

As he rode, the motorcyclist reached out and punched side mirrors on several vehicles, appearing at one point to injure his left hand as he punched the side of a pickup truck.

He continued weaving in and out of lanes, turning at one point to make
an obscene gesture at pursuing officers.

As he rode into the North Hollywood area, he veered the motorcycle into
a construction area, eventually falling from the bike, apparently in pain. He
was quickly apprehended by pursuing CHP officers.

CHP Officer Ming Shu said the motorcyclist was traveling at speeds of up to
90 mph during the chase.
