Five Things To Do This Weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here's a few suggestions:
Saturday: The Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) will hold its annual American Radio Relay League's Field Day at the Ontario Salvation Army Corps and De Anza Park, 1412 S Euclid Ave., Ontario. The free public event will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. More than 65,000 hams participate in such field days every year. The local group will be set up at the park, next to the Ontario Salvation Army Corps front entrance. Information: Tony Stephen, 909-628-2843, ke6jzf@verizon.net, satern.net
Saturday: The 56th annual Mt. Baldy Volunteer Fire Department's Steak Fry and Raffle benefit will be from 3 to 9 p.m. The major fundraiser for the fire department will be held at the Mt. Baldy Trout Pools, 6945 Mt. Baldy Road, from 3 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for children under 12, and $15 for a vegetarian plate. Advanced sale tickets are available at 909-982-1213. Tickets often sell out so those buying tickets should arrive early. Beer, wine and soda will be available for purchase at the bars, and there will be a live band.
Saturday: "Cheers," Los Angeles Wine, spirits, Beer and Food Festival, will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. to benefit the Learning Centers at Fairplex. The cost is $50 on line or $60 at the door, which includes wine and spirits tasting, food at a large number of food trucks, $10 in food truck bucks, dancing and a silent auction. Attendees must be 21. Free parking is at Gate 1 at Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona, with a tram provided to the event. Information: 909-865-4207.

Saturday-Sunday: Pomona will put on its 24-hour Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society at Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., beginning at 10 a.m. Through earlier this week, the relay has drawn already 36 teams and 391 participants who have raised more than $30,700. At 10:30 a.m. will be a Survivors Lap for those who have overcome cancer, while at 8 p.m. will be the Luminaria ceremony remembering those who have died from cancer. Information: 909-627-4450.
Sunday: An early look at the new location for the CCAA Museum of Art, 217 S. Lemon Ave., Ontario, will be offered from 2 to 4 p.m. The museum is holding its "Dusty Shoes Tour" to show off the work being done to convert the 1919 Ontario Power Corp. building into a permanent museum. Workers have painted some walls, set up the Museum Store, and selected 45 works of art from the CCAA's permanent and auxiliary collections to exhibit in the main gallery.
