Remember Caleb; A Youngster's Brave Battle Ends

A brave fight by a young soul ended, June 16.
That Sunday, little Caleb Thaddaeus Reed died at Loma Linda Medical Center after an 11-week struggle with a congenital heart condition. Josh and Stephany Reed announced their son’s passing today on their Facebook page, A Heart for Caleb.
“Although Caleb's race is done his life's purpose is not,” read a Facebook statement by the family. “We will be forever changed by this precious little boy and his short but courageous life.”
Caleb was born on March 26 and was diagnosed with Complex Congenital Heart Disease and 'Chromosome 8p23.1 deletion syndrome,' according to his family. His fight was documented on Facebook and followed by thousands including members of the Upland-based Steven's Hope who offered the family support.
The infant received a heart transplant on May 30.
Steven’s Hope assists children and their families who need housing or financial assistance during an extended stay at a care and rehabilitation center. The group formed prayer teams for the family who held strong thanks to their faith.
On Monday morning, many those praying for the infant saw the news on Facebook.
“JESUS GOT THE BEST FATHERS DAY GIFT!” the Reed family wrote.
“I want to thank all the nurses and doctors and therapists who have poured into our son throughout his short life,” they wrote. “We are deeply (grateful) for all of you!”
“Thank you all for your prayers and support. Please pray for us now as we take the most difficult journey of saying goodbye and continuing on. God bless! Stephany and Josh.”
The family generously shares little Caleb’s on this posting.
