St. Lucy’s, Damien File Federal Lawsuit Against CIF Southern Section

Story by Heather Lodevico-To'o
Four southern California private schools – Ventura St. Bonaventure, La Verne Damien, Glendora St. Lucy’s and Westlake Village Oaks Christian – have filed s federal lawsuit against CIF’s Southern Section, challenging its decision to place the schools in sports leagues with similar parochial schools for the 2014 to 2015 releaguing cycle, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times.
The schools are claiming the decision is based on religious discrimination and lack of administration due process.
Damien and St. Lucy’s were previously part of the Mt. SAC Area, which included public schools. All four schools’ appeals to CIF Southern Section were denied earlier this year.
