The city is looking for local photos taken by local residents for their annual 'Through My Lens" contest.
The city of Diamond Bar is reaching out to local photographers who want to showcase their work in the form of city artwork.
"If you own or have access to a camera, here's a fun challenge you don't want to pass up," the city announced in their newsletter Monday, while highlighting the sixth annual community photo contest.
"Through My Lens" is a chance for Diamond Bar residents (you must live in town) to compete for not only recognition of their photographs, but cash prizes as well.
There are a five categories-- people, pets, places, nature and digitally altered-- as well as two age groups: Youth (17 and under) and Adult (18 and older).
All skill levels are invited to participate, and cash prizes will be handed out as follows: Honorable Mention, $50; First Place, $100; and Grand Prize: $150.
What's more, winning photos may be used on the city's website, in their calendar or in the newsletter, according to the official rules.
Here are the submission requirements, as stated by the city:
- No cost to enter.
- Open to Diamond Bar residents only.
- Entrants may enter all categories but may submit only one photo per category.
- Photos may only be submitted once in one category.
- Age determined at time photo is submitted. Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
- Photos must be taken within Diamond Bar city limits.
- Photos must not be previously published and must be suitable for publishing by the City.
- With the exception of the Digitally Altered category, photos cannot be altered in any way utilizing PhotoShop or comparable programs.*
- City reserves the right to reassign entry to alternate category.
- No print entries accepted. Only electronic files on cd or via email will be accepted.
Entries must be received by Friday, Sept. 27 at 4:30 p.m., according to the city.
