"Roaring Nights" to Debut at the L.A. Zoo
The Los Angeles Zoo aims to draw in a new crowd with the launch of "Roaring Nights" this week.
The event, which kicks off on Thursday, will feature live music from local bands, a dance party with DJ Morning Star at the carousel at the L.A. Zoo and standup comedians.
Special Events Coordinator Nicole Fodera said the event is designed for people 18 and older.
"We wanted to reach out to a new demographic,” Fodera said. "We wanted to bring in the 20-somethings.”
While some of the zoo will be closed during the event, some parts of the zoo will be open for business, including the petting zoo and areas that hold elephants, gorillas and orangutans as well as a few other animals, according to Fodera.
There will also be food trucks on hand, including Grilled Cheese Truck, Coolhaus, Komodo Truck, and Crepe'n Around. A full bar will also be available, Fodera said.
"Pop-up zookeeper" talks are also scheduled on Thursday night.
"Roaring Nights" will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays from July 11 through July 25.
Tickets, which are $15 for zoo members and $18 for non-members, may be purchased online or at the zoo the night of the event.
