Fire Out, Mapped at 1.5 Acres in Glendora


The fire that broke out south of the Foothill Freeway and west of Sunflower Avenue has been extinguished and the SigAlert canceled.

No injuries were reported and no damage to structures occurred, authorities said.

A fire that started south of the Foothill Freeway sent rocks and dirt into the far right lane of the eastbound road, forcing its closure for a time, the CHP reported.

A SigAlert was issued about 10:30 a.m. for two hours, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Information on possible additional acreage burned was not immediately available.
A fire began in Glendora Saturday and quickly burned two acres, as officials set up a command post and dispatched firefighters to the scene.

The brusher started south of the eastbound Foothill (210)  Freeway, west of Sunflower Avenue about 9:51 a.m., officials said.

A command post was established at the intersection of Dover Street and Lyman Avenue, according to Los Angeles County fire.

By 10:30 a.m., the fire had scorched about two acres, a county fire dispatch supervisor said.

The L.A. City Fire Department sent a water-dropping helicopter to assist in the fight, said city fire department spokesman Erik Scott.

A command post was set up at the intersection of Dover Street and Lyman Avenue, according to the country fire department.

The California Highway Patrol declared a SigAlert at 10:25 a.m. and shut down the right lane on the 210 Freeway approaching Sunflower Avenue, about 2 miles west of the Route 57 interchange, said CHP Officer Monica Posada.
