Local Bands to Put on 'Last Live Musical Show' at Malibu Inn

With new management taking over the Malibu Inn, local bands are putting on a concert Saturday night that they say will be part of local musical history.

Malibu native Kathy Escobar-Harvey has plans to reopen the Malibu Inn as Casa Escobar at The Malibu Inn, according to reports. Escobar-Harvey already co-owns Casa Escobar, a Mexican-style eatery, in Westlake Village.

Cameron Wellwood, who is part of the Malibu-based band the Harsh Carpets, sent out an email blast this week, encouraging locals to attend Saturday night's concert, writing:

"THIS SHOW WILL BE THE LAST LIVE MUSIC SHOW AT THE MALIBU INN...EVER!! Saturday, August 31st. This will be an all day and all night rock n roll extravaganza! IT IS A MUST SEE AND MUST ATTEND EVENT IF YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF LOCAL MUSICAL HISTORY!!"

Performances will be by:
  • The Harsh Carpets
  • Cisco- Cameo appearance
  • LaGrange
  • The Diamond Light
  • 27 Miles
  • The Record Company
  • Strange Native
  • Adam Orourk
  • Mark Knight & The Unsung Heroes
  • Karma Dealers
The concerts will begin at noon and run through 2 a.m. Tickets, which are available for those 18 and older, can be purchased at http://indie.tunestub.com/show.cfm?id=120792&cart

While local bands believe their time may be up, Escobar-Harvey told the Malibu Times this week she has plans to continue live music, but that she will no longer employ concert promoter Matt Diamond of Diamond Lane Entertainment.
