Claremont Police say the suspect in the attempted Claremont Chase Bank robbery may have hit a Santa Ana bank just two hours before.
A man suspected in a thwarted robbery attempt of a Chase Bank in Claremont may be the same robber who successfully robbed a bank in Santa Ana just two hours before, according to Claremont Police.

A man entered a Chase bank in Santa Ana and handed note to the teller demanding money at 3:35 p.m. Thursday. The teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the scene.
Two hours later at 5:53 p.m., a man fitting the description of the earlier robbery in Santa Ana attempted a similar robbery at the Chase Bank at 400 N. Indian Hill Blvd. in Claremont, according to Claremont Police. The teller in that robbery refused to give the suspect the money and suspect fled out of a side door.
“We believe the suspect [in the Santa Ana robbery] may be the same person as the suspect in the attempted robbery in Claremont based on physical appearance,” said Lt. Shelly Vanderveen. However, Vanderveen the suspect has not been officially linked to both cases.
The suspect is described as white, in his late 40’s, 5-foot-8 with a skinny build, long brown hair that was pulled back in a ponytail.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
