Overnight Closures Planned at McClure Tunnel at PCH

The McClure Tunnel links Pacific Coast Highway and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway.

Four overnight closures are planned for the McClure Tunnel, which links Pacific Coast Highway and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, starting Sunday, Caltrans officials said.

Pavement at the tunnel has been shifting and sinking in some locations for several years. It was built in 1935.

The road towards the beach will be closed Sunday and Monday nights, starting at 11 p.m. The road will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

Westbound freeway traffic will be diverted to Fifth Street, to go through downtown Santa Monica to the California Incline or the PCH onramp from Ocean Boulevard near the pier.

The road from Malibu toward Los Angeles will close Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 11 p.m., to reopen at 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Southbound PCH traffic will be diverted to the Ocean Boulevard offramp those two nights, Caltrans officials said.
