The chase reaches speeds of 100 mph at times on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway though the San Gabriel Valley and Ventura (134 and 101) freeways.

A high-speed chase that began when deputies tried to stop and question a man in connection with thefts at a Rancho Cucamonga Wal-Mart ended 60 miles away in Encino Friday night when the suspect steered the SUV he was driving onto a dead-end street and was taken into custody.
The chase began around 9:15 p.m. when San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies tried to stop the suspect in connection of reports of thefts from a Wal-Mart near Foothill Boulevard and Interstate 15 in Rancho Cucamonga, said Jody Miller, public information officer with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The chase reached speeds of 100 mph at times on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway though the San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena area. It then continued to the Ventura (134 and 101) freeways. The suspect exited to streets in Encino and was taken into custody at the point of deputies' guns around 10:10 p.m., according to broadcast reports.
The suspect was a parolee at large and the SUV was reported stolen, Miller said.
