A pair of small earthquakes hit the ocean floor off the Palos Verdes Peninsula early Saturday, according to automated seismograph computers.
The first quake hit at 4:45 a.m., had an estimated magnitude of 2.9, and
an epicenter 18 miles southeast of Palos Verdes
The second quake was at 5:57 a.m., had an estimated magnitude of 1.9 and had a epicenter 3 miles west-southwest of Point Fermin and eight miles southeast of the Palos Verdes Point.
The automated reports had not been reviewed by scientists and were subject to
revision.
