Man Charged in Stabbing Death Outside Hollywood Hotel

Julio Cesar Velasquez is set to be arraigned Sept. 18.

A murder charge was filed today against a 22-year- old man who allegedly stabbed a man outside a hotel near the Hollywood Bowl on Labor Day.
Julio Cesar Velasquez is set to be arraigned Sept. 18 in Los Angeles Superior Court in connection with the death of Orlando Antonio Tobar, 29, of Los Angeles.

Velasquez was arrested about a block away from the Best Western Hollywood Plaza in the 2000 block of North Highland Avenue shortly after the stabbing about 6:30 a.m. Monday, police said.
Officers who responded to the hotel found the victim with stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses helped lead officers to Velasquez, who allegedly was involved in an argument with the victim that led to the stabbing in front of the hotel, police said.
