Mt. SAC Randall Planetarium Presenting Three Shows This Weekend
The Mt. San Antonio College Randall Planetarium has several showings tonight and tomorrow.
The following is from a news release from Mt. SAC on what stargazers can expect to see this weekend.
One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure, a special program for preschoolers, will be presented on Friday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. In this program, Sesame Street’s Big Bird, Elmo and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, take viewers on a journey of discovery to learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the sun, and the moon.
Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope , a program on the worlds uncovered by the telescope, will be presented Friday, Sept. 20, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Mysterious moons, icy rings and distant galaxies were all unknown before the invention of the telescope. Two Small Pieces of Glass is a full dome digital planetarium show where you’ll visit a local star party and discover the cosmos through the telescope.
Awesome Light: Discoveries from the Telescopes of Maunakea, a program on recent telescope discoveries, will be shown Saturday, Sept. 21, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Find out what discoveries can be made with telescopes by experiencing the observatories in Maunakea, Hawaii. Chase asteroids with NASA’s Infrared Telescope, watch supernovae through the giant 2.2-meter optical telescope, and share stories with the astronomers of tomorrow.
Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for students, seniors, and children 6-13, and $1 for children 5 and under.
For tickets, call the Mt. SAC Performing Arts Box Office at (909) 468-4050. Tickets are also available online at https://tickets.mtsac.edu and at the door before each program.
