Southland Gasoline Prices Drop For Ninth Day
(City News Service) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell 1.5 cents today to $3.981, the ninth consecutive decrease following a 14-day streak of rising prices.
The average price is 6.9 cents less than one week ago and 16.2 cents lower than one year ago, but 14.3 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price also decreased for the ninth consecutive day following a 14-day streak of rising prices, falling 1.6 cents to $3.947 -- 7.7 cents less than one week ago and 16.5 cents lower than one year ago but 14 cents more than one month ago.
The dropping prices are the result of a resolution of supply issues that had caused the latest increases in prices, according to Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
