A woman, between 25 to 30 years old, was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday at the interchange of the Pomona (60) and Orange (57) freeways in Diamond Bar, the California Highway Patrol said.
A second victim was rushed to a hospital, firefighters said.
That person's condition was not immediately known, said a county fire dispatcher.
A car with four people inside had slowed in the HOV lanes and was apparently rear-ended, CHP officers said. The other car drove off and the crash was reported as a hit-and-run, but its driver had merely driven to a safe place and called the CHP from there, according to CBS2.
The HOV lanes and the three left lanes are closed on the combination 60 west and 57 south freeways, approaching the 60/57 split, CHP officers said.
Traffic was jammed on both routes, which share lanes for more than a mile.
The dead woman was about 25 to 30 years old, officers said.
A SigAlert was issued at 8:11 a.m. for the closed HOV lanes and three left lanes on the westbound 60 and southbound 57 freeway. Lanes were reopened at about 10:45.
