Woman Killed in Four-Car Crash on 60 Freeway in Pomona


Kathy Cortez, 26, was flown to Los Angles County/USC Medical Center where she was pronounced dead earlier Sunday.

A 26-year-old woman was killed when her car rear ended another vehicle, triggering a four-vehicle crash on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Pomona, the California Highway Patrol said today.
The crash on the eastbound freeway, west of Reservoir Street, was reported to  at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, according to a department statement.

Kathy Cortez, who was driving a 2011 Nissan Versa, failed to see traffic slowing ahead of her and rear ended a 2001 Toyota 4Runner, which then struck a 2012 Ford Focus -- which then rear ended a 2013 Honda Civic, according to a department statement.
Paramedics rushed the driver and an occupant in the Toyota 4Runner, as well as a passenger in the Ford Focus to Pomona Valley Hospital for minor injuries, according to the statement.
Cortez was transported via helicopter to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 12:56 a.m.
