La Verne Alternative Gift Faire planned Sunday

La Verne Church of the Brethren offers other options for holiday gift-giving at its annual Alternative Gift Faire on Sunday.
The 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. faire at the church on the corner of Bonita Avenue and E Street, does not feature the latest video games and toys. The gifts there revolve around humanitarian projects which improve families’ economics, provide sustenance and shelter to the needy and assure artisans fair prices for their products and creative works, according to the Rev. Susan Boyer, pastor.

Gifts include buying a flock of chickens, a goat or a cow from Heifer International to help nourish Third World children, send them to school and keep them healthy; supporting the world’s working poor by buying their Fair Trade items and handicrafts and purchasing supplies to build an affordable Habitat for Humanity home for low-income families.
The church youth group will sponsor the faire’s luncheon to raise money for its holiday programs for low-income families and the homeless. Information: 909-593-1364.
