Mel's

 

This brings back some great memories, growing up just a block south on Monterey St. this would be a common site, back in the day.

Mel's was located on the southeast corner of Holt Ave. and Palomaers St. the picture looks like it was taken in the early 1970's. The Grey Elephant that had a chiefs hat on, on both signs is gone on both of them. And I think it's about the same time that they put up, those new street signs that light up, you can see one there to the top right of the picture.

So this picture was taken around the last days of Mel's it was a great place to meet up with friends, and great food.
