NATIONAL BREADSTICK DAY
Each year on the last Friday in October, the country celebrates
National Breadstick Day.
Originally thought to have been created in the 14th century, breadsticks, according to a local tradition, were invented by a baker in northern Italy in 1679.
Breadsticks are often found offered in restaurants as an appetizer and come in various sizes that are frequently enjoyed with dipping sauces such as marinara, ranch dressing or Alfredo.
To celebrate National Breadstick Day, enjoy an order of breadsticks from your favorite restaurant or try making your own from the following “tried and true” recipe:

NATIONAL GREASY FOODS DAY
October 25 annually celebrates National Greasy Foods Day.Although not the healthiest of choices, every once in awhile it is okay to enjoy some greasy food, when it is done in moderation. From fried chicken, pizza, nachos, french fries to bacon and hash brown potatoes, we all like a treat in our regular diet.
Cooking oil types include:
Olive oil – Palm oil – Soybean oil – Canola oil – Pumpkin oil – Corn oil – Sunflower oil – Safflower oil – Peanut oil – Grape seed oil – Sesame oil = Agran oil – Rice bran oil – Other vegetable oils – Butter and lard.
Oil may be flavored with aromatic flavorings such as herbs, chillies or garlic.
“Greasy” foods can be prepared with the “better for you oils” and using much less than normal amounts of oil when cooking.

NATIONAL FRANKENSTEIN FRIDAY
The last Friday in October of each year celebrates National Frankenstein Friday. This day celebrates the birth of Frankenstein and it’s creator. Dating back to the 1800′s, Frankenstein is one of the best known horror characters of all times.
- Created by Mary Shelly at the age of 21, Frankenstein was first published in 1818.
- Frankenstein was made famous by Boris Karloff in the movie “Frankenstein” in 1931.
