Ren's Wayback 1959 - 1960

Just to give you an ideal in what Town Ave. use to look like before building the underpass, this is looking north.

And in this picture your looking south, where this grain factory on the right is where Western U is today and where they built that huge parking structure on the northwest corner of Second St. and Town Ave.

Looking north again, you see that white building to your right. Well that's the newly restored Pomona Packing Plant on Commercial St., back then you were able to make a right on Commercial St. and then make your way over to Pomona High school. Back then Monterey St. ( Ave. ) never went all the way through it stopped at Palm Place. It wasn't till the mid 1960's that they made it go all the way through.

And this is what I remember my brother and I on his bike, me on the handle bars and heading down the underpass. We rattled our teeth all the way down. To the left is the Pomona Packing Plant and to your right is the grain factory, and today if you were to stand in the same place you would see that huge parking structure there in it's place that Western U built.
