Two Men Hospitalized in Pomona Stabbing
Two men who apparently stabbed each other during an argument at a Pomona apartment complex this weekend were hospitalized for treatment of their wounds and police were trying to determine exactly what happened, a police official said.
Pomona officers responded to a call about multiple stabbings at an apartment complex at 1433 S. Park Ave., about 5:50 p.m. Saturday, according to Pomona police Sgt. Bert Sanchez.
The officers found two victims, each suffering non-life-threatening stab wounds, Sanchez said. They were identified as 23-year-old Gilbert Alcantera and 33-year-old Erik Soto, both from Pomona.
"Preliminary information suggests that both victims/suspects are family members that became involved in an argument that escalated into a fight," Sanchez said. "During the fight both victims/suspects produced knives, which resulted in each sustaining multiple stab wounds to the upper body."
Sanchez said both victims were hospitalized in stable condition, Pomona police Sgt. Iain Miller said.
"Neither man has been arrested," Miller said. "The case will be referred to the district attorney's office to determine whether one or both men will face charges."
Anyone with information on this incident was asked to call the Pomona police at (909) 620-2085. All tips can be made anonymously.
