At Monday’s city council meeting they will be considering a resolution in support of AB1999 which is an assembly bill which passed the Assembly 74-0 to create a state tax credit for historic preservation. It is now on its way to the state senate.

Here in Pomona, we’ve been fortunate to have had 2 major projects benefit from the Federal 20% tax credit for historic preservation, The... Pomona Fox and the Mayfair Hotel. Without this Federal program, the financing for these projects could not have happened. The addition of a state tax credit could significantly increase the potential for additional projects such as these.

In addition, this credit will also be available to home owners as well, which, in combination with our Mills Act should also increase the likelihood that preservation of our historic home stock in Pomona could also be enhanced.

I urge you to support this by contacting your councilmember and letting them know that you support AB1999, or go to the meeting on Monday to support it (it’s on the consent agenda so should come up early in the meeting)

Thanks,
