Brush Fire Above Glendora 98 Percent Contained

It has burned 190 acres. It should be fully contained by Friday. There is no active

Fire crews had a 190-acre fire in the Angeles National Forest above Glendora 98 percent contained Tuesday, Aug. 19, an Angeles Forest spokesperson said, with complete containment expected Friday, Aug. 22.
There were two heat-related injuries since the fire began last week, all of them to firefighters, said Andrew Mitchell.
Temperatures on Tuesday were in the low 70s, with a humidity level of 45 percent, which makes for good firefighting conditions, Mitchell said.
The so-called Shoemaker Fire broke out near East Fork Road and Glendora Mountain Road in the East Fork/Heaton Flat area at 12:48 p.m. Thursday, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
“The flames are out and we are mainly putting in the rest of the fire line and mopping up,’’ the U.S. Forest Service’s Nathan Judy told City News Service. Firefighters are putting out flare-ups and clearing the last 10 percent of vegetation around the fire’s perimeter, he said.
Glendora Ridge Road and Shoemaker Road are open.
The fire was burning in a steep, remote area, fueled by brush and chaparral.
The cause was under investigation.
