San Bernardino County parks plan adult, children’s fishing workshops



San Bernardino County Regional Parks will offer several fishing workshops for children and adults during the 2015 trout season.
Kids ages 7-15 can learn to fish from park experts in the Junior Fishing Workshops which run from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m..
The schedule:
• Jan. 17 at Prado Regional Park, 16700 S. Euclid Ave, Chino
• Feb. 21 at Glen Helen Regional Park, 2555 Glen Helen Pkwy, San Bernardino
• March 14 at Mojave Narrows Regional Park, 18000 Yates Road, Victorville
• April 11 at Yucaipa Regional Park, 33900 Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa


The workshops are sponsored by Friends of Regional Parks www.for-parks.org and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.
The Regional Parks Department hold will hold several competitive fish derbies for the 2014-15 trout season in which anglers can compete to win up to $1000 in cash and other prizes. They run each day from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The schedule:
• Jan. 10 at Yucaipa.
• Feb. 7 at Glen Helen.
• March 7, at Prado.
• April 11 at Mojave Narrows.
Additionally, there will be an adult fishing workshop held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 24 at Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, 800 N. Archibald Ave., Ontario.


Adults, ages 16 and older, can have the opportunity to learn to fish at the workshops. Several others will be planned later in the year.
During the workshop, participants will rotate through three stations that will introduce them to the basic fundamentals of trout fishing. They will then test their skills in a two-hour open fishing session. All equipment and tackle is provided. Cost is $10.
