UPLAND >> Dunkin’ Donuts is opening its first drive-thru location in San Bernardino County on March 10 and will celebrate by offering free coffee for the first 24 hours, the popular coffee chain announced Wednesday.
Dunkin’ Donuts’ newest location is a 3,000-square-foot storefront in the Mountain Green Shopping Center in the southern part of Upland. The restaurant will open at 4:30 a.m., and attendees will enjoy a free medium hot or iced coffee promotion for the first 24 hours.
As part of the opening day festivities, the first 100 people in line will receive a Dunkin’ Donuts tote bag filled with special items and the first person in both the walk-in and drive-thru lines will be rewarded with free coffee for one year. In true Dunkin’ Donuts fashion, guests will be greeted with free samples, photo opportunities with adored mascot, Cuppy, and special giveaways throughout the day.
I believe Dunkin’ Donuts will soon become a staple in the Inland Empire community because of its commitment to fast and friendly service while providing guests with high-quality food and beverages day in and day out,” said Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee Jeff Shady in a statement
According to Dunkin Donuts, the Upland franchise will be operated by new franchisee, Batter Boys, Inc., owned by Shady and Jordon DiBiase. The pair has plans to develop seven additional standalone restaurants in the North Inland Empire, the coffee company stated.
The permit for Dunkin’ Donuts was approved in October by the city’s Planning Commission, paving the way for construction to begin, said Jeff Zwack, development services director for Upland.
Zwack previously said the developers were attracted to this location because of the high traffic off Mountain Avenue and access to the freeway.
The Upland storefront was last occupied by Honey Baked Hams, but has been vacant since that eatery relocated across the street. GNC and Sprint are the two other existing tenants in the building.
A handful of parking spots between the Dunkin’ Donuts location and the Denny’s restaurant were removed to allow for the drive-thru.
In 2013, the chain announced it was returning to Southern California with a plan to open 44 locations.
The only other location in the county, in Barstow, opened in 2013.
