Gang Member Sentenced to Prison for Pomona Attempted Murder, Other Crimes

An Upland man convicted of participating in a gang-related shooting, which resulted in a woman being injured, was sentenced today to 48 years to life in state prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Charles Chaiyarachta, who prosecuted the case, said Jason Stanley Sanchez, 36, was found guilty in a bench trial on July 2, 2014, of attempted murder, as...sault with a firearm, and being an accessory after the fact in case KA101576.
Additionally, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge George Genesta found true gun and gang allegations.

The prosecutor said on March 29, 2013, Sanchez and two other gang members drove through enemy gang territory in Pomona. While there, a confrontation ensued between Sanchez, his cohorts and the rival gang members.
At some point, a gun was discharged and a woman who was with the rival gang members was struck by the gunfire. Following the shooting, Sanchez fled the area.
Authorities began an investigation and discovered surveillance video that linked Sanchez to the shooting. Two weeks later, he was arrested and charged in connection with the assault.
The case was investigated by the Pomona Police Department.
