NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CARAMEL DAY

National Chocolate Caramel Day is celebrated annually on March 19th.  This definitely puts a smile on most people’s face and immediately makes one hungry for some chocolate caramel candy, cake, cheesecake, ice cream, pudding, or any of the other delicious treats made with this great combination.
Milton Hershey actually began his career at a caramel company in the late 1800′s.   Mr. Hershey was at the 1893 World’s Colombian Exposition and became fascinated with the exhibit of the machinery to make German chocolate.  He then bought the equipment for his company.   Therefore, the popular caramel chocolate combination has been around for many years.
Following is a link for a great popcorn snack to help with the celebration:

LET’S LAUGH DAY

Celebrated annually around the world, March 19th is Let’s Laugh Day.

Some studies have shown that laughter may boost your immune system, relieve tension and help you relax.  Who does not need any of those things in our busy and hectic world?
So March 19th, let us all laugh all day!
Elsa Maxwell: Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can.
William James: We don’t laugh because we’re happy — we’re happy because we laugh.

NATIONAL POULTRY DAY

Eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast, an open faced turkey avocado sandwich for lunch and then perhaps a good, ol’ fashioned fried chicken dinner to finish off the day as March 19th celebrates National Poultry Day.
Poultry refers to domestic birds that are raised for meat and eggs  This includes chicken, turkey, ducks, geese, quail and pheasant.   Poultry are farmed in great numbers with chickens being the most numerous.
It is believed that chicken was introduced to American soil by the European explorers in the 16th century.  Chicken consumption in the United States increased during World War II due to a shortage of beef and pork.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) oversees the poultry production in the United States.  Estimates place production at around 9 billion chickens in the United States.  Chicken and turkey are lower in fats and cholesterol than other meats.
Poultry can be cooked in many different ways including roasting, baking, frying, grilling, sauteing  steaming and broasting.
Enjoy your favorite poultry dish, either at home or at your favorite restaurant.  Feel free to try one of the following, “tried and true” recipes:
