A food holiday celebrated on April 3 is National Chocolate Mousse Day.
A mousse (French ‘foam’ pron.: /ˈmu:s/_) is a prepared food that incorporates air bubbles to give it a light and airy texture. It can range from light and fluffy to creamy and thick, depending on preparation techniques. A mousse may be sweet or savory. Dessert mousse is typically made with whipped egg whites or whipped cream, and are generally flavored with chocolate or puréed fruit. For a savory mousse, hard boiled egg, fish, or liver may be used. (Wikipedia)

During the 1800′s chocolate mousse was a specialty in French restaurants, however it is now found worldwide.
There are several variations per recipe, chocolate type, and extra added ingredients such as fruit.

NATIONAL TWEED DAY

National Tweed Day is observed annual on April 3rd..  This day has a few different meanings, so you can choose as to which one you believe is the source of National Tweed Day.
Some people believe that National Tweed Day is celebrated  to recognize senator-turned-crook William “Boss” Tweed.  Tweed was born on April 3, 1823.  He was the wealthiest and most powerful politician of his time.  While being considered the “poster boy”  for political corruption, Tweed is still known by many as one of the most notorious politicians in American history.  He died in 1878, in jail, after being caught with stealing millions of dollars of public money.
Others believe that it celebrates the tweed fabric.  ”Tweed is a rough, unfinished woolen fabric, of a soft, open, flexible texture, resembling cheviot or homespun, but more closely woven. It is made in either plain or twill weave and may have a check or herringbone pattern. Subdued, interesting colour effects (such as heather mixtures) are obtained by twisting together differently colored woolen strands into a two- or three-ply yarn. (Wikipedia) Tweed was often worn by Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and Professor Henry Jones of Indiana Jones.

NATIONAL FIND A RAINBOW DAY

National Find A Rainbow Day is observed annually on April 3rd..
There are people that see rainbows as an artistic masterpiece in the sky, to others it is a sign of hope and to many a sign of promise.

A spectrum of light in the form of a multicolored arc, appearing in the sky, is caused by both reflection and refraction of light in water droplets in the Earth’s atmosphere.  These rainbows always appear directly opposite of the sun.   The light is refracted (bent) when it enters a droplet of water, then is reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.
Red is the color that is visible on the outer part of a rainbow and violet on the inside of a “primary rainbow“.
Many forms of airborne water can cause rainbows including, rain, mist, spray and dew.
The song, “Over the Rainbow” was written in 1939 for the movie The Wizard of Oz.
