SUSPECT: Author Monsibais, 37, Pomona resident
Anna Carranza, 32, Pomona resident
NARRATIVE:
Pomona police officers were dispatched to Hamilton Park regarding a strong arm robbery that had just occurred. Officers arrived and contacted the victim. The victim told officers he was sitting at a park table with his friends listening to music from his cell phone when he saw the suspects approaching his table. The victim recognized the suspects as area gang members who have been stealing cell phones from park visitors. Suspect Monsibais approached the table took the victim’s cell phone from the table while suspect Carranza acted as the look out. The victim was scared that he would be harmed by Monsibais if he objected or resisted the theft, adding that his life is not worth a cell phone. The suspects fled the park.
The victim called the police department at 3:47 PM and reported that he saw the suspects at a residence in the 800 block of W. Monterey Ave. Officers responded to the area and saw Monsibais on the front porch of the residence. Monsibais retreated inside the residence. Officers surrounded the residence and called to the occupants. Monsibais and Carranza surrendered to police after approximately 30 minutes.
Both suspects will be charged with robbery.
