Creepy Things the Victorians Did
One of the many things the Victorians did which was completely normal to them, but inherently creepy for us was somethig known as memento mori. Latin for "Remember you shall die", Memento Mori was a Victorian process involving photography and dead bodies. Basically, because photography was in its infancy, it was very expensive, meaning only the rich could afford it. Therefore, when a relative died, their loved ones would pose the corpse and get a photo taken with it - usually only a matter of hours after death. See what I mean about normal to them, weird and creepy to us?
