NATIONAL PUNCTUATION DAY
A period, a comma, a semicolon, a question mark and exclamation point are examples of some of the punctuation that is used in writing to separate sentences and their elements and to clarify meaning. These, along with all the others, are commemorated today on National Punctuation Day, which is observed annually on September 24th.

Across the country, the media has recognized National Punctuation Day and there are celebrations held, in which a few of these notable events are listed below:
- FontFeed credits National Punctuation Day with the revival of the interrobang.
- StudioSTL of St. Lois, MO promotes National Punctuation Day by holding an annual happy-hour fundraiser. The event raises money for their free writing programs and raises awareness for the value of correct punctuation.
- Auburn Elementary School of Auburn, MI celebrates National Punctuation Day annually.
- CBS’s Live with Regis & Kelly mentioned National Punctuation Day on their morning television show on September 24, 2008.

NATIONAL CHERRIES JUBILEE DAY
National Cherries Jubilee Day is observed annually on September 24. Cherry lovers everywhere are smitten with this easy to make, delicious dessert and it is a favorite for many special occasions.
Cherries are mixed together with liqueur (typically Kirschwasser) and then flambeed. Very commonly the Cherries Jubilee is served as a sauce over vanilla ice cream.
Auguste Escoffier receives the credit for the Cherries Jubilee recipe. He prepared the dish for one of Queen Victoria’s Jubilee celebration.
