Family FunSunday: El Nino - 1/10/2016
Rain or shine, families can learn about El Nino at the San Bernardino County Museum on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 10, between 1 and 4 p.m. El Nino is the weather phenomenon that promises to bring extreme rainfall to southern California this season. But what causes El Nino, and what should we do to prepare for it? These questions will be addressed at the El Nino Family FunSunday with crafts and activities geared toward families with children along with take-home information about safety and preparedness.
Kids can engage in rainy day art, build a weather-spinner, learn all about clouds, and create a cloud mobile. Grownups: do you know the right way to fill a sandbag and how to place them for maximum effectiveness? You can find out at the County Museum.
Family FunSundays and the County Museums other exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort by the the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating arts, culture, and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors.
El Nino activities are included with paid museum admission. The San Bernardino County Museum is at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities.
