George Martin, the legendary producer known as the "fifth Beatle" has died at age 90, according to Ringo Starr.
Martin produced nearly all the Beatles' recordings and was considered deeply influential in shaping their sound.
Starr wrote on Twitter, "Thank you for all your love and kindness George peace and love."
Martin is regarded as one of the greatest music producers of all time, having produced 23 number-one hits in the United States.
Adam Sharp of CA Management confirmed Martin's death to the Associated Press and stated that Martin died peacefully at his home.
Sharp said Martin's family "would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and messages of support."
British Prime Minister David Cameron also hailed Martin "a giant of music" on his Twitter account.
