There is too much criminal activity happening on the South Side of Pomona too. Several people have reported that they are not able to shop at our local stores on the South Side without being harassed by thugs in the parking lots! In particular, the new Target Center, WalMart & Winco areas. But widely, from Garey, going west on Mission to the 71, and from Mission going south on Garey to the 71 the entire area needs to be raided! Also, don't forget Phillips Ranch and Westmont neighborhoods!
POMONA'S MAJOR CRIMES TASK FORCE and the LA DA's Office respond to numerous gang complaints and arrest five gang members.
On Saturday, March 12, 2016, The Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force and the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office "Special Response Team" partnered together to conduct a zero tolerance and gang enforcement detail within the City of Pomona.
Officers focused on known gang hangouts within the city. One of which has been identified through numerous complaints as Palomares Park. Officers contacted a group of gang members who were drinking alcohol in public. Upon contacting these subjects, two of them fled from police. During a short foot pursuit one subject discarded a loaded firearm. Officers ultimately detained eleven documented gang members. The incident also led to a search of a vehicle tied to the gang members that were detained. The search revealed an additional loaded firearm within the vehicle. A second suspect was arrested for the firearm.
The continued enforcement throughout the city ultimately resulted in five total arrests for various charges involving firearms, narcotics, warrants, and parole violations.
The Pomona Police Department continues to improve the quality of life issues in Pomona by conducting such operations. It is encouraged that the citizens of Pomona continue to provide tips and information to the police in order to support these types of details.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
