Large fire erupts at metal recycling center in Montclair

 

MONTCLAIR, Calif. (KABC) --

A third-alarm fire erupted at a metal recycling center in Montclair Monday afternoon.

Fire crews were responding to the scene at Coast Metals in the 4700 block of E. State Street. Montclair police said about eight residences and five to six businesses near the center are either on fire or have been damaged by the blaze.

Multiple images on social media showed large flames and plumes of smoke shooting up to the sky.

The flames were deemed a second-alarm fire and were later updated to a third-alarm blaze.
