Magnitude 5.2 earthquake rattles Southern California


A 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit just after 1 a.m. Friday morning south of Palm Springs according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The agency’s website originally reported it was a 5.1 and a 5.2 quake.
The site said the temblor hit at 1:04 a.m. and was centered at 13.7 miles north-northwest of Borrego Springs, 14.9 miles east-southeast of Anza, and 26.7 miles south of Palm Springs.
Between 1:06 and 1:33 a.m. four more quakes ranging in size from 3.5 to 2.8 hit in the same general area.
The USGS received reports of people feeling the temblor from as far away as San Diego, Beaumont, Riverside, Idyllwild, Pomona and Los Angeles.
No damage was immediatley reported.
