RIVERSIDE, Calif. --
Metrolink's Perris Valley Line opened on Monday, providing more rail service options for commuters in the Inland Empire. The new stretch of rail, which is an extension of the existing 91 Line, continues commuter rail service 24 miles from the Riverside-Downtown station to south Perris.
The project also adds new stations to that area at Riverside-Hunter Park/UCR, Moreno Valley/March Field, Perris - Downtown and Perris - South.
The extension provides greater access to Metrolink service for people in Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula and Lake Elsinore.
It also marks Metrolink's first extension since the Antelope Valley Line was built in 1994.
