Pomona Police Officers recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving

On June 6, 2016, six Pomona Police Officers were recognized at the Pomona City Council Meeting for their diligent efforts in arresting impaired drivers.  The California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) annually recognize law enforcement officers throughout the state that have arrested 25 or more impaired drivers during a calendar year.  These six Pomona Police Officers collectively arrested 209 individuals for driving under the influence in our City during 2015. They consistently sought out and took a proactive approach to identify and arrest impaired drivers.

Impaired driving is the most commonly committed, yet preventable, crime in the United States.  It has a severe impact in our Community each year. Needless to say, removing impaired drivers from our streets makes our Community safer and protects those within it from injury and/or property damage. Although no one can calculate the number of injuries and lives that have been saved to date by these officers, their efforts are greatly appreciated by all.  The Pomona Police Department congratulates Officer Billy Dinh (31 arrests), Officer Christopher Lewis (35 arrests), Officer Jesse Hedrick (32 arrests), Officer Jason Conley (30 arrests), Officer Ruth Flores (31 arrests), and Officer Cesar Rivera (50 arrests).

MADD's Mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
