MAJOR STREET REHABILITATION – CITYWIDE (FY13-14 - FY15-16)



On April 4, 2016, a construction contract for Major Pavement Rehabilitation for FY13-14 - FY15-16, Project No. 428-2590-xxxxx-68548 was awarded by City Council to Gentry Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $12,256,580. The project will rehabilitate approximately 14.5 miles of streets throughout the City, add bicycle lanes and routes, and construct a Corridors Specific Plan median and parkway landscaping improvements (with Green Street stormwater infiltration improvements) on North Garey Avenue. Street rehabilitation methods will vary from fog seals and slurry seals, to various thicknesses of grinds and overlays, to cold central plant recycling with overlays. A separate construction contract is expected to be recommended for award for bulb-outs and pedestrian improvements by spring 2017. This work will deliver Active Transportation Program (ATP) improvements identified in the City’s ATP Cycle 1 grant for $2,010,000.
On April 5, 2016, a letter was mailed to all affected area residents/businesses to advise that construction will start in spring 2016 and is scheduled to be completed by spring 2017, with most of the work occurring during the summer and fall of 2016. Additionally, residents were provided contact information and informed that during construction, access to driveways/garages will be temporarily restricted, street and sidewalk traffic may be limited and that the Contractor will coordinate phasing of the project to facilitate construction and minimize impacts.
