Campus stabbing locks down Rancho Cucamonga High School

Rancho Cucamonga High School was temporarily placed on lockdown Wednesday after someone was injured in a stabbing on campus, San Bernardino County sheriff's officials said.

It was not known if the victim was a student. Medical aid was on scene to treat the victim, described as a male, although earlier reports from sheriff's officials stated the victim was female.

Sheriff's officials confirmed the victim was stabbed and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The severity of the person's puncture wound was not yet clear.

Authorities said at least two people were detained, but no one was arrested.

What led up to the assault was not immediately clear, but sheriff's officials said the assault took place under suspicious circumstances.

Nearby Lightfoot Elementary School was also placed on lockdown while authorities searched for those involved in the incident. The lockdowns on both campuses were lifted shortly before 3 p.m.
