Ren's did you know Earl Holmes Richardson?

Earl Holmes Richardson was born October 4, 1872 in Wisconsin. At 17, he moved to Illinois where he met and married his wife, Mary. The two are pictured here. For health reasons they moved to sunny California. After a time, Earl was hired to manage the Stone Castle Powerhouse in San Antonio Canyon. During his free time he tinkered at making small household appliances, one of which was a flat iron. ... Earl asked his wife to try it out but her final opinion was, “I don’t like it.” After several attempts, he redeveloped it to his wife’s satisfaction so that it had a point hot enough to iron the ruffles on their daughter’s dresses. In 1904, he founded the Pacific Electric Heating Company and began mass producing the world famous Hotpoint iron.
