Chau Nguyen currently serving as the 2015-2017 President of the Friends of the Pomona Public Library. Long time Pomonian, Nguyen’s memories of the library started in the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children’s Room and progressed to the art and literature collections. In high school, she won the Friends book scholarship. She wrote, “One day I’d like to place a book back into the library as an author.” She did. The Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network worked with the University of Washington Press to publish an anthology by Southeast Asian Women in the Diaspora called “Troubling Borders.” Her poem is inside.
Nguyen’s goal is to build relationships with groups and individuals to evolve the public library’s mission and implement enrichment programs to enliven the Pomona Valley’s socio-cultural fabric.
