Pomona gang member arrested for robbing couple at gunpoint

In May of 2017 a couple arriving home were confronted by two suspects in the area of 11th St. and Waters St. The suspects demanded property from the victims. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun at the time of the robbery. The suspects took the victims’ property and vehicle and drove away.... The victim’s vehicle was found, days later, abandoned on a nearby street.

Pomona Robbery Investigators worked vigorously on the case and identified Jair Lopezcota (19) as the armed suspect in the robbery. He was also determined to be a local Pomona gang member who was on active parole for robbery.

With the assistance of the San Gabriel Valley-Pomona FBI Safe Streets Task Force and California Department of Corrections, Lopezcota was arrested and a search warrant was served at his home in Pomona. Investigators are searching for the second suspect.

The San Gabriel Valley Pomona PD FBI Safe Streets Task Force is a joint task force that focuses on high level drug and gang investigations. The San Gabriel Valley Pomona FBI Safe Streets Task Force works closely with other local and state agencies to suppress violent crime and prevent criminal enterprise from thriving in our city.
