The picture you see was taken back in the mid 1960's. A picture of the Pomona Mall looking west from Garey Ave. The next cross street is Thomas St. where you see, Thrifty Drugs, which is now the Glass House. Home Savings, National Dollar Stores, Woolworth's, John P. Evans, United California Bank, Ewart's Men's Wear, Gym
And back then on Thomas and Second St. there use to be some planters, with lights up on top, as you can see with benches in the picture. But later on, they were removed to allow car traffic, to travel through Thomas St. going south.
But I would like to know, what happen to the lights that were on top of the planters?. Sometimes we hire these contractors, who work on removing these planters, and take things, like STREET SIGNS FROM THE MALL!. And what ever they can get their hands on, and turn around and sell them. STREET SIGHNS FROM THE MALL, belong to the city of Pomona. And not to be used for lawn decorations or anything else. And anything that was taken with out PERMISSION must be return to the city of Pomona.
