First office of Pomona Mutual Building & Loan Association 205 S. Thomas St. 1892 Feb '56 Gift from Homer Duffy C. I. Lorbeer mrs. T. M. Himrod, customer. It all started here...the first office of Mutual Building and Loan of Pomona. C. I. Lorbeer, father of Carl H. Lorbeer, one of our present directors, is shown at his desk. The year was 1892 and the original company paid a monthly rental of $4.00 for this one-room office. The first loan made by the Pomona group was for $500 on a home at 859 East Second Street. This house is still standing today.
