11 cited for furnishing alcohol to minors!

LOCATION:   Various Liquor/ convenience stores throughout the City of Pomona.

NARRATIVE:
Officers from the Pomona Police Department participated in a Minor Decoy/Shoulder Tap Operation on 02/15/18 at various locations throughout the city. A concerned effort is being made to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors and Shoulder Tap Operations are a known method to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors.

Operation Details- One 19 year old minor, and one 20 year old minor, under the direct supervision of officers, were sent to various liquor/convenient stores throughout the city. The minor(s) then waited outside each location and mentioned to patrons they were under the age of 21 and ask if they could by them alcohol. 11 adults were contacted and 5 offered to buy the alcohol for the minors. The suspects were detained immediately after furnishing the alcohol, and after it was determined they did not have any outstanding warrants they were issued citations for furnishing alcohol to a minor, and released pending their court date.

This project is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s Minor Decoy/ Shoulder Tap Grant Project, funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
