CRIME: 25850(C)(3) PC Gang Member carrying a loaded firearm

SUSPECT: Charles Daniel Martinez Jr, 33 Years old, Pomona Resident
INCIDENT #: 18-20524
On 2-20-18 The San Gabriel Valley East AB 109 Task Force was conducting surveillance in the area of Hamilton Park of gang members loitering and acting suspiciously. Detectives believed that due to their actions some sort of illegal activity was occurring. As one of the individuals, Charles Daniel Martinez, left the park on foot detectives attempted to contact him. Upon identifying themselves as police officers Martinez began to run and attempted to evade capture. Martinez was observed throwing a firearm on top of a boat that was parked in the driveway to a nearby residence. Martinez was apprehended and the firearm was recovered and found to be loaded. Martinez has gang tattoos and was wearing clothing consistent with being a member of the “Cherryville”street gang. He was arrested for the felony charge of gang member with a loaded firearm.
The SGV East AB 109 Task Force is headquartered at Pomona PD and is comprised of investigators from Pomona, El Monte, Claremont, San Gabriel and the Los Angeles County Probation Department. Their mission is to mitigate the crime recidivism rates of supervised persons by identifying, monitoring, and gathering information on those supervised persons that live, work, and/or visit any of the participating cities.
