Inside Beyond Reality, artists will dig deeper past the senses through images and symbols, dividing the consciousness of the existence of the phenomenal world, and the existence of its subject. Abstractions of the Human Body will introduce unusual juxtapositions and distortions of the human body, through drawings and paintings.

Figments of the Imagination

A “figment of your imagination” is defined as something imagined or created by your mind. We tend to look at things the way we want to, but it is not real. It is what is perceived by the observer and the observer only. Entitled Figments of the Imagination, this exhibit presents art that is made to trick viewers into thinking an alternate reality exists. A place in which time and space is divided, and the unknown awaits. These works of art allow us to dwell deep into the artist’s mind and their imagination.

Opening their world to us, Figments of the Imagination allows these artists to express themselves through various forms of techniques and mediums. Figments of the Imagination focuses on paintings, collages, installations and other forms of visual art that reflect the artists euphoric, dream-like imaginative thoughts. Taking influence from abstract art and surrealism, Figments of the Imagination, culminates a new modern art experience.

Among the many inspirations for this exhibit include key figures from the early 20th-Century such as Man Ray, Wassily Kandinsky, Salvador Dalí and Hannah Höch. Dadaism and surrealism have greatly influenced this new contemporary art scene that relies heavily on alternate states of consciousness, and capturing a sense of one’s imagination. This exhibit focuses on contemporary artists, and their quest to capture or convey the state of mind that separates reality from fiction.

The belief that artistic creation is transmutation of reality, through the imagination, is present in each of the artist’s work. Each artist manifests a certain essential creativity of nature, using their mind, to produce images of mystery and otherworldly appearances. Imagination is the highest of the human faculties, consisting of consciousness, perception, judgement and memory. Through this, artists can connect themselves within the universe and enable to uncover deeper meanings and its true reality.

Split into two sections – Beyond Reality and Abstractions of the Human Body – Figments of the Imagination will introduce guests to these concepts through the artworks on display. Imagination always starts from reality, yet at the same time differentiates itself from phenomenal reality.

Inside Beyond Reality, artists will dig deeper past the senses through images and symbols, dividing the consciousness of the existence of the phenomenal world, and the existence of its subject. Ideas, images and illuminations will project perceptions upon the highest aspect of the mind as imagination. Beyond Reality lingers in that space between dream life and walking life, where each state of being feeds the other and neither seems quite real.

Abstractions of the Human Body will introduce unusual juxtapositions and distortions of the human body, through drawings and paintings. The human body will be deprived of its normal elements to suggest a sense of mystery. Under the impact of creative imagination, artists will throw forth symbols and images of the human body, that reflect their own sensations and emotions.

This exhibit showcases how visions of the imagination produce intense and otherworldly images.
