Back in the 50s an old Dancehall became the Rainbow Gardens, A new dance hall for the kids. This Hall which was located just east of the Gary underpass and Monterey St.. It was an extremely popular place and attracted some of the greatest singing groups of United States to play.
Ren's Note: I grew up on Monterey St. about a block away. One night we heard the fire engines, and we ran outside. To see huge flame coming from the Rainbow. We ran all the way to Locust St., and stood on the corner and watched it burn. That was one heck of a fire.
